Brigitte Macron wears cigarette trousers after pipping Melania Trump to 'best dressed'
Brigitte Macron, 64, looked youthful as she stepped out today in Greece on an official visit with her husband Emmanuel Macron.
The French president and his wife of ten years were arriving at the Presidential mansion in Athens, Greece when they were photographed. Brigitte looked ever-stylish in a Parisian outfit of a crisp white shirt, black trousers and black stilettos.
She carried a white leather handbag as she walked side-by-side with Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos’s wife Sissy Pavlopoulou Paltsemi.
Vanity Fair’s 2017 International Best-Dressed List was revealed today. Despite US First Lady Melania, 47, owning an enviable wardrobe of designer pieces, she did not make the cut this year.
Barack and Michelle Obama were listed in the best dressed couples section, so Melania may have missed out on a nod due to her husband rather than her own taste.
Other politicians who also got a nod were Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was honoured for the second consecutive year, and French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte.
Sissy and Brigitte were walking toward a welcome ceremony at the Presidential mansion when they were photographed.
The French President is on a two-day visit to Athens where he will give a major policy speech on the future of Europe.
He is expected to restate his vision for a more integrated European Union and reiterate his support for the Greek government’s efforts to revive the economy.
Greek Deputy Minister of Economy and Development, Stergios Pitsiorlas said: “We see it is as a very important visit.
“We are very much hoping it will not only deepen economic cooperation but also herald a change in the political dynamic in the EU which for so long has been dominated by a single state, Germany.”
Although in Greece on business, Brigitte looked radiant and stylish as she walked along the pavement.
Mr Macron first met Brigitte when he was 15 years old and she was his 40-year-old high school drama teacher and a married mother-of-three.
Footage unearthed by French TV shows a teenage Mr Macron kissing his then drama coach on the cheek in 1993.
Brigitte has said: “Macron came to audition for a part in the play and I watched him. I just found him incredible. He had such presence.
“Without doubt he wasn’t like the others. He was always with the teachers. He simply wasn’t an adolescent.”
When he was just 17 years old, Mr Macron is said to have vowed to marry Brigitte one day.
The pair have gone from strength to strength since and are frequently spotted travelling together on business.
Emmanuel is also stepfather to Brigitte’s three children – including Tiphaine Auzière who worked on his campaign. He is a step-grandfather of seven.
