A very sassy Cher wasn’t pulling any punches when she replied to a woman on Twitter over President Donald Trump’s decision to scrap the so-called ‘Dreamers’ programme.
Earlier in the day, Trump axed the scheme – the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or ‘Dreamers’ programme – that helped thousands of young illegal immigrants in America.
The programme had prevented 800,000 people being deported.
After hearing the news, the music icon took to Twitter to let her feelings about the controversial decision be known.
Writing to her 3.4million followers, she started off her Twitter spree: “Those Who Can Must Take a DREAMER In2 Their Home & Protect ThemI’m Ready 2 Do This & Others in MY BUSINESS WILL DO THE SAME SANCTUARY (sic).”
However, one of her followers was unconvinced and replied to the tweet: “Sure you will Cher… I’ll believe it when I see it!”
To which the 71-year-old songstress savagely fired back: “Then keep your eyes open b**tch.”
On Tuesday, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions confirmed the controversial move, telling reporters the Obama-era programme “is being rescinded”.
Some existing ‘Dreamers’ will get a limited six-month window to renew their work permits, but no new applications will be allowed after Tuesday.
They could have their details passed to law enforcement if requested for “national security or public safety” purposes, Reuters reported.
